Yoga is a tool to journey back to you
Black Sage Yoga was founded on the belief that yoga is truly for every BODY, and that there is a need for more safe spaces to practice yoga. We welcome all students, and focus on those who are new to yoga or haven’t felt completely comfortable in their prior practice. We know what it’s like to be in spaces where you feel as if you don’t belong. Black Sage Yoga strives to be a welcoming space of safety that meets students where they are. We are committed to ensuring that each person we encounter through one of our classes or workshops/retreats feels welcomed.
Rhonda Johnson founded and leads Black Sage Yoga. She is a yoga instructor focused on overall wellness and the connection of mind, body and soul in realizing a healthy and balanced mindset and lifestyle. A government communications manager by day, Rhonda is a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with American Red Cross CPR/AED certification. She leads with compassion and embodies the spirit of her educator parents’ belief and commitment to equity in learning. She likes to establish a foundation through which to build upon as she leads students from all backgrounds and experiences back to themselves through the many practices of yoga.

Coming together in community can be beneficial to your journey back to yourself. Sometimes, an accountability partner or just someone to be by your side is what you need. Likewise, while there is great benefit to being in community with others, there is also something powerful in individual and personalized instruction. There is a lot of value in taking time away from the day to day to focus on wellness. Getting away if only for hours can be beneficial in helping to reset the mind, the body, and the soul. Yoga Classes/Instruction
Coming together in community can be beneficial to our journey back to ourselves. Sometimes, we need an accountability partner or just someone to be by your side. Come to one of our classes and bring a friend or family member or meet new people. Classes are taught with compassion with the belief that yoga truly is for everyone. Whether it’s your first time experiencing yoga, you’ve taken classes before and they haven’t felt good or you didn’t feel safe and supported, or you’ve been away from the practice for a while – we invite you to join us. We will meet you where you are and help you meet yourself there as well. We invite you to check back on class offerings, but for now group classes are hosted in private settings. We’d love the invitation to come and teach a group class in your space – whether it’s community space, a workplace setting, a rented room, a clubhouse, or a park.
While there is great benefit to being in community with others, there is also something powerful in individual and personalized instruction. We understand that sometimes you may need a level of privacy to feel comfortable in movement. Black Sage Yoga would love to be that safe space while offering individualized instruction, which can be tailored to your specific needs.

Workshops/Retreats
Sometimes people just need to get away from the mundane, the day to day, the routine. Getting away if only for hours can be beneficial in helping to reset the mind, the body, and the soul. Workshops and retreats are a great way to do a reset, to shift focus, to prepare for what’s ahead. Black Sage Yoga has led mindfulness and yoga sessions in workshop and retreat settings – each time designing a program based on the needs of the group and sometimes the individual members. Sessions can be designed for any time length, whether it’s 15 – 30 minutes to kick the workshop or retreat off, an hour or so for a full mindfulness and yoga sessions, or a half day devoted to mindfulness which can include grounding exercises, breathwork, and a physical yoga practice (chair, mat, or a combination).
If you are a leader or organizer for your group’s activities, consider us to be a partner as you plan out your next workshop or retreat. Corporate Wellness
Workplace wellness should be more than a catch phrase, or something that is often an after-thought. It should be a commitment by leadership to offer employees tools to help deal with the increasing pressures of our new and tremendous normal. We at Black Sage Yoga know what it’s like to work in the corporate world and to feel overwhelmed and caught up in the day to day. We can help you show employees you care about their wellbeing – with things that go beyond the luncheons, the recognitions; things that have a far greater impact not only in the moment but with lasting impact. Enter wellness sessions that focus on the total person, the mind, body and soul. Sessions that provide tools to help with burnout, stress, and anxiety in everyday lives. These sessions can be in the form of periodic or regular offerings – whether it’s a workshop or a yoga session, or a series, these can make employees feel seen and heard. Research has shown that employees feel a greater appreciation for the efforts companies take with wellness offerings.
Granted, these wellness offerings should be coupled with intentional reviews of the corporate structure, culture and workloads but the deliberate focus on yoga and mindfulness sessions can be a huge benefit.
